Accord – A. Butler, Esq.

It was good to hear from you, dearest friend. Although I must admit I was concerned with the lapse in your response to my last letter. As we both know, we are not youngsters, and with our growing component of days in this habitation, dear friend, it is not without possibility – and I might say our greatest hope – that each of us may see the Lord face-to-face – and hear the words – well done faithful servant.

Yes, my brother we are in one accord. The freedoms – earthly albeit – we fought so hardly to obtain are being secreted away. With a stroke of a pen, the foundation set by our brothers in Philadelphia is being weakened one stone at a time. Not only those freedoms, but the very Cornerstone upon which those freedoms are based is under attack. With the birth of my youngest granddaughter, I am more cognizant of the marginalization of our faith! The social milieu in which we now live embraces tolerance and political correctness as the god of which it serves. Hypocrites!

They speak and spend their time proselytizing – rounding up converts to worship the god of this world, while at the same time attacking those who voice any disagreement. I recently heard through the recent dispatch from the Colonies of a fellow brother who voiced his opinion on a common social topic and was summarily threatened – by a bloated insolent self-serving government  – supposedly  for his words on marriage – yes Christian – not some insipid topic or behavior shunned by our society – marriage!   Alarm! The enemy is at the gates – no they are already in the compound – the walls have been breached  and that venerable document and the very first amendment is under attack.

Dearest friend, how much blood has been shed over the decades for this cherished right? More than you and I would like to consider. I remember our fallen friends who pressed into battle to win the right – the right to speak freely – in love and respect – without government oppression. What we see now is more than tragic – the silencing of a nation – the silencing of the one message that can save this country – the Good News.

As you know dearest Christian, this is deeper and of dire concern. It is a slippery slope and we are sliding at an ever increasing pace. We are sliding to a point – as you rightly determine in your correspondence – placing our dear country in opposition to the commands and teaching of our Lord. We should be like Isaiah of old weeping:

“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” Isaiah 6:5 (NIV)

God help us – we are men – no a nation – of unclean lips standing before a Holy God. Instead there are those in our country, like Sodom and Gomorrah, looking for every opportunity to fulfill the lusts of the flesh – in a multitude of forms – and we know the results.

May we call out to God for mercy, both for ourselves and our progeny. There can be no peace dearest Christian – we must call upon the  Lord’s mercy – come Lord Jesus. We as Christians are under attack in a country founded on the very principals – the very faith of which it was established. The horn needs to be blown!

In one accord Christian.

With warmest affection and prayers for you and your family.

Your friendship is tried and true brother. I remember your sacrifice on the field of battle for me – I thank the Lord upon remembrance of your sacrifice – and how you shared with me the One who made the ultimate sacrifice for both of us.

Blessings, dear Christian.
